Twenty years of ocean photography are being brought together to help raise A$12,000 so the orphanage founded by Magezi can secure land of its own in Uganda.

Why this project exists.

This begins with photography, surfing and a piece of land. The immediate goal is to help an orphanage founded by Magezi secure land it can own and farm for the long term.

A connection carried since 2020.

Magezi founded a not-for-profit orphanage to support children and the wider community that continues to turn to him for shelter and food. In 2020, Magezi and Brenden connected through the AIME mentoring program. The relationship that followed has opened a path toward land the orphanage can own and farm.

Made in heavy water.

These frames come from moments of fear, physics, light, beauty and fast-moving water: decisions made in the space between human movement and oceanic power.

Land can hold what short-term help cannot.

Carefully and strategically farmed, this plot has the potential to improve food security for an estimated 30 to 50 people. Nothing about the outcome is guaranteed yet, and the land itself is not secured, but the potential is what this project is working toward.

Twenty years, brought into one body of work.

A one-off photo book is in development, drawn from twenty years of ocean photography. The one-off book will cost A$50, with postage charged separately. Release timing and availability are still to be confirmed. Once direct costs are covered, all remaining profit will go to the land project.
